66 d:ead in horror blaze at popular hotel

Turkey is in mourning after a devastating fire broke out at a popular ski resort hotel, claiming the lives of 66 people and injuring dozens more. The blaze started around 3:30 a.m. in the restaurant of the 12-story, four-star Grand Kartal hotel, located in the Kartalkaya resort in Bolu. Turkey’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed that 66 people were killed, and at least 51 others were injured. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. According to Governor Abdulaziz Aydin, two of the victims died after jumping from the building in a panic. Reports from private NTV television also mentioned that some people attempted to escape by climbing down using sheets and blankets.
