Austin, Texas, is on edge after 38 bodies were recovered from Lady Bird Lake since 2022, sparking fears of a possible serial killer. The latest victim, believed to be a missing teenage paddleboarder, was found near Riverside Drive and South Lamar. Authorities say the boy vanished Sunday after stepping off his kayak without a life jacket near an underwater shelf with a sudden drop. His kayak was later discovered with the life jacket still inside.
Most victims have been men, with 60% aged 30–49. While most deaths were ruled drownings, some were suicides or overdoses, and only one was confirmed a homicide. Twelve cases remain unexplained, fueling speculation about foul play. Police continue investigating, but the pattern has left residents uneasy about the unsettling trend.
