Popular smartphone is banned on all US flights over explosion risk

A banned Samsung phone has resurfaced on TikTok, with users questioning why it was prohibited from all U.S. flights. The Galaxy Note 7, released in 2016, was recalled after reports of overheating, explosions, and fires due to faulty batteries. Samsung acknowledged the defect, costing them billions, and the TSA issued an emergency ban, prohibiting passengers from carrying the device on any flights.

Investigations revealed the batteries lacked proper insulation and had design flaws. Despite the recall, the phone recently went viral on TikTok, with users joking about still owning it. While outdated, the device remains infamous for its safety risks, with videos of its malfunctions still circulating online. Samsung had prioritized customer safety, halting sales entirely after 35 global incidents were reported.
