‘Families don’t have to match’ – Black couple share their journey to adopting three white children
Sadie and Jarvis Sampson, after years of failed attempts to conceive, found hope in adoption. Despite exhaustive efforts to have a biological child, including medical consultations and weight loss, they faced disappointment. Their journey took an unexpected turn when a friend asked if they would consider fostering a baby, which soon led to the possibility of adoption.
The couple’s emotions soared from uncertainty to elation as they learned they would become parents overnight. After a weekend of absorbing the news, they received confirmation of the birth mother’s desire for an independent adoption.
Their son, Ezra Lee, born prematurely, brought immense joy despite his initial fragility. Sharing their journey on social media, they received overwhelming support, symbolizing the community’s embrace of their unconventional family.
In 2021, the Sampsons expanded their family further, welcoming twin girls, Journee and Destinee, through embryo donation. Their story exemplifies the belief that “families don’t have to match,” showcasing love’s ability to transcend biological ties.
