David Beckham forced to undergo surgery after ‘years of pain’ as wife Victoria reacts

Former England captain David Beckham recently underwent surgery to address a long-standing wrist injury from 2003. The 50-year-old football legend suffered the injury during a friendly match against South Africa when he fell on his right wrist after a challenge. Despite initially playing on with a bandage, he was substituted early in the second half.

Medical scans later revealed a fractured scaphoid bone in his wrist. At the time, doctors inserted a screw to aid healing, expecting it to dissolve over time. However, recent X-rays showed the screw remained embedded in his forearm, causing years of persistent pain.

A source close to Beckham revealed he had endured discomfort for years but ignored it until the pain became “unbearable.” A routine scan identified the undissolved screw, prompting the decision for corrective surgery. His wife, Victoria, shared a post-operative photo of him in good spirits.

Victoria Beckham posted a heartfelt message on Instagram, saying, “Get well soon daddy,” alongside a photo of David holding a beaded “Get well soon” bracelet. The surgery was successful, and Beckham is now recovering well.

In a recent interview with Men’s Health, Beckham opened up about the physical toll of his football career. He admitted to relying on pain injections during his playing days, which he now regrets. Despite multiple injuries, he has managed to stay active post-retirement.

Earlier this year, Beckham mentioned feeling better than he had in a long time, though he still experiences discomfort in his back and left hip. He attributed these issues to wear and tear rather than any specific injury.

While his wrist surgery marks another chapter in his injury struggles, Beckham remains optimistic about his recovery. Fans worldwide have sent their well-wishes as the football icon focuses on healing.
