Donald Trump Issues a Message on Approaching Tsunami
Tsunami waves have started hitting parts of Hawaii after a powerful earthquake struck the Pacific Ocean, triggering warnings and advisories across coastal regions.
President Donald Trump addressed the threat in a social media post, urging residents in Hawaii, Alaska, and the U.S. Pacific Coast to stay alert. He directed the public to tsunami.gov for updates, adding, “STAY STRONG AND STAY SAFE!”
According to official alerts, Hawaii and parts of California are under a Tsunami Warning, while advisories cover coastal areas from Alaska to Mexico. Waves have already reached Hawaii, with a five-foot surge reported in Kahului, Maui.
Emergency evacuations are underway, with heavy traffic reported in Honolulu. Oprah Winfrey opened her private road to assist evacuations, coordinating with law enforcement to ensure safe passage for residents.
The tsunami was triggered by an 8.8 magnitude earthquake near Severo-Kurilsk, Russia, causing damage there and forcing mass evacuations in Japan. Over 1.9 million people fled coastal areas, though no major damage has been reported.
California is also on high alert, with helicopters patrolling coastal zones and boat evacuations ordered in Moss Landing. Nearly 27 million people live in the state’s coastal counties, making preparedness critical.
The tsunami’s effects have spread across the Pacific, with advisories issued in the Philippines, Indonesia, Chile, and other nations. Authorities continue monitoring the situation, urging residents to follow safety directives.
