Despite a healthy body, Bruce Willis’s wife admits his brain is failing.

Emma Heming Willis has provided a heartfelt update on her husband, actor Bruce Willis, describing how his frontotemporal dementia causes his “brain to fail” and steadily diminishes his ability to communicate. The 70-year-old *Die Hard* star received his diagnosis over three years ago.

While preparing to release a book about her family’s journey, Emma emphasizes that they have learned to adapt to the progressive nature of the disease. She is also using her experience to advocate for other caregivers facing similar challenges.

In an interview with ABC, Emma noted that despite the cognitive decline, “Bruce is still very mobile” and in good physical health overall. She explained that the family has developed new methods to connect with him as his language skills fade.

Reflecting on the early stages of his illness, Emma admitted she initially felt she had to manage everything alone, which led to exhaustion and isolation. Her upcoming book, *Unexpected Journey*, aims to offer guidance and support to others on the caregiving path.

Although Bruce’s condition is incurable and progressive, Emma shared that his family—including his five daughters—still occasionally sees glimpses of his true self, sometimes noticing a familiar “twinkle in his eye.”

One of the most difficult decisions, Emma revealed, was moving Bruce to a nearby care residence to ensure he receives constant, professional support. She believes this choice aligns with what Bruce would have wanted for their family.

Their two young daughters, Mabel and Evelyn, continue to have a strong presence in his life, frequently joining him for meals at the care home.
