Melissa Gilbert breaks silence after Megyn Kelly’s Epstein remarks

Actress Melissa Gilbert, known for her childhood role on *Little House on the Prairie*, is re-examining her past with a new perspective. This reflection was prompted by recent comments from television host Megyn Kelly regarding Jeffrey Epstein.

On her show, Kelly appeared to downplay Epstein’s crimes, suggesting a distinction between his teenage and younger victims. This sparked online outrage and the hashtag #iWasFifteen, where women shared photos of themselves at that age.

Gilbert participated by posting a photo of herself at 15 from the show. She was “actually nauseated” to see herself in romantic scenes with her 23-year-old co-star, Dean Butler.

She emphasized that she was a child at the time, stating, “I WAS FIFTEEN.” While crediting her support system for keeping her safe, she acknowledged how vulnerable young actors can be.

Butler, now 69, has also expressed discomfort with the age gap. He has publicly stated he wished they had been closer in age for their on-screen romance.

Gilbert directly called for Kelly to be more careful with her words. This is not the first time Gilbert has publicly challenged Kelly’s viewpoints.

The incident has ignited a broader conversation about the protection of young actors in Hollywood and the importance of language when discussing victims of exploitation.
