I just found this stuff on my bed, it’s making me a little scared, what is it?

Discovering unfamiliar reddish-brown, capsule-shaped objects on your bed can be alarming. Your mind might race to identify them, considering possibilities from insect eggs to medication.

The most plausible explanation is that they are softgel dietary supplements or medications. Common items like fish oil, vitamin E, or krill oil capsules often match this description. Their shiny, gelatinous surface and ability to roll into hidden places make them a likely candidate.

It is less likely that these objects are seeds. While some seeds like pomegranate can be dark, they typically have a more fibrous texture rather than the smooth, glossy appearance described.

A common concern is insect-related origins, but this is improbable. Insect eggs are usually white, translucent, and irregularly shaped, unlike the uniform and shiny objects found. They also do not resemble insect droppings.

Although edible candies or decorative beads could look similar, the chance of them appearing on a bed without any related food or activity is very low.

If you encounter such items, first check for any nearby supplement containers or medications and ask household members if they dropped anything. It is crucial never to consume an unknown substance.

For peace of mind, thoroughly clean the bedding and vacuum the area. If uncertainty persists, consider showing a sample to a pharmacist for identification. Often, the most puzzling discoveries turn out to be everyday items.
