Jimmy Kimmel fires back with 2 scathing words to Trump after ‘disgusting’ remarks about Rob Reiner
Jimmy Kimmel strongly criticized Donald Trump’s response to the deaths of filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele. Trump had suggested on social media that Reiner’s passing was linked to “Trump derangement syndrome,” drawing widespread condemnation.
On his show, Kimmel read Trump’s post aloud, calling it “hateful and vile.” He expressed disbelief, stating he initially thought the remark was too extreme even for the former president.
Kimmel lamented the lack of compassion, saying a time of tragedy requires leadership and empathy. He argued the public response from Trump offered neither, instead providing “a fool rambling about nonsense.”
Trump later doubled down during a press conference, calling Reiner “deranged” and blaming him for promoting the “Russia hoax.” Kimmel responded sharply to these remarks, calling Trump’s mind “corroded.”
Addressing viewers, Kimmel urged political reconsideration, stating it is acceptable to change one’s support. He vowed to continue highlighting what he called the “loathsome atrocities” from Trump’s mouth.
Other late-night hosts addressed the tragedy more somberly. Stephen Colbert opened his show acknowledging recent dark events, including the Reiner deaths, stating “other people’s tragedy is sacred ground.”
The Reiners were found dead in their home on December 14th in an apparent homicide. Their son, Nick, has been arrested and is held without bail. Reports indicate the family argued at a holiday party shortly before the tragedy.
