Kate Middleton defended after royal fans call out detail in Christmas card photo
The Prince and Princess of Wales shared their 2025 Christmas card on social media today, December 18th. The photograph features the couple with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, in a field of yellow and white flowers.
The family appears relaxed and affectionate in the image. Charlotte rests her head on her father’s shoulder, while Louis leans back between William’s legs. Kate has her arms wrapped around her eldest son, George.
Accompanying the photo was a simple message: “Wishing everyone a very Happy Christmas.” This annual tradition, however, sparked some immediate criticism online.
Some commentators labelled the card “lazy,” noting the photo was taken months earlier, during spring. They pointed to the daffodils as evidence the image was not seasonally recent.
Many royal fans, however, quickly defended the couple. They argued it is common for families to use older, cherished photos for their holiday cards.
Supporters noted the practicality of reusing professional photos from other occasions. Some also suggested the daffodils could be a nod to Wales, where William holds the title Prince of Wales.
Despite the debate, numerous admirers praised the “stunning” and “joyful” portrait of the close-knit family, celebrating the release of their festive greeting.
