FBI Received Rap.e Allegation Against Donald Trump During Epstein Probe

The U.S. Department of Justice has discredited allegations against former President Donald Trump found in newly released Jeffrey Epstein-related documents. This follows online circulation of an unverified claim, described by the department as “baseless,” which alleged sexual assault involving Trump and Epstein.

In a social media statement, the Justice Department warned the public that some released documents contain “untrue and sensationalist claims.” These include an FBI intake form from October 2020, which records a second-hand and uncorroborated allegation.

The department argued the claim lacks credibility, noting it would have been “weaponized” politically years ago if it had any merit. It further highlighted that other documents in the release are confirmed fakes, like a forged card purportedly from Epstein.

The document release has renewed scrutiny of Trump’s past association with Epstein, a convicted sex trafficker who died in custody. Photographs and past interviews, including a 2002 quote where Trump called Epstein a “terrific guy,” have been revisited.

However, the Justice Department emphasized that the inclusion of a name in these records is not proof of wrongdoing. The files contain raw investigative leads, including unverified tips and hearsay that were often dismissed by investigators.

The department framed the focus on Trump as a misunderstanding, stating that legally required public disclosures do not equal an endorsement of their contents. It affirmed no allegations in the materials implicate Trump in crimes.

While the episode has again placed Trump’s social ties to Epstein under examination, the Justice Department’s position remains clear: the specific allegation driving the current attention is “unfounded and false.”
