Anthony Joshua Breaks Silence Following Fatal Car Crash That Killed Two Friends

Boxer Anthony Joshua has posted on social media for the first time since a fatal car crash in Nigeria. He was a backseat passenger in a vehicle that hit a stationary truck on an expressway last Monday morning.

The crash resulted in the deaths of two of his close friends, Sina Ghami and Latif ‘Latz’ Ayodele, who were pronounced dead at the scene. Ghami served as Joshua’s strength coach, while Ayodele was a trainer in his camp.

Authorities report the car was speeding and suffered a tyre blowout during an overtake. The driver, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, has been charged with multiple offenses including dangerous driving.

Kayode denies the charges, claiming the crash was an accident due to brake failure. Joshua sustained injuries and was hospitalized but was released on New Year’s Eve and has since returned to the UK.

Joshua shared a photo on Instagram showing him with others, one holding a framed picture of Ghami. He captioned the post, “My Brothers Keeper,” marking his first public statement since the tragedy.

Memorial services for Ghami and Ayodele are scheduled to take place in London this Sunday. The boxer had been traveling to visit relatives for New Year celebrations when the accident occurred.

Messages of condolence have poured in from the boxing community, including from rivals Jake Paul and Tyson Fury. His promoter, Eddie Hearn, also shared a heartfelt tribute to the two men.
