JD Vance Speaks Out After Windows Are Smashed at His Home

U.S. Vice President JD Vance has publicly addressed damage to his Ohio home. Authorities report a man smashed windows at the property early on Monday, January 5th, while Vance and his family were not present.

The suspect was detained outside the home shortly after midnight by U.S. Secret Service officers. The Cincinnati Police Department subsequently arrested 26-year-old William DeFoore.

DeFoore faces multiple charges, including vandalism, criminal trespass, and obstructing official business. Investigators confirm the damage involved broken exterior windows.

Police stated the Vance family was out of state during the incident and the suspect did not enter the residence. It remains under investigation whether the home was specifically targeted.

Vance thanked law enforcement on social media, calling the suspect “a crazy person” and expressing gratitude for the quick response from the Secret Service and local police. He confirmed his family had returned to Washington, D.C.

The Vice President also requested media restraint, asking outlets not to broadcast images of his damaged home to protect his children’s privacy.

The investigation continues, coordinated between multiple agencies. The incident follows Vance’s recent return from Cincinnati, which occurred after a contentious U.S. operation in Venezuela, a context that has heightened geopolitical tensions.
