Eye-opening approval ratings reveal what Americans truly think about Trump’s second term

Donald Trump and his administration consistently portray his presidency as historically successful. They claim his tariffs have raised billions, gas prices are at record lows, and his agenda is advancing rapidly.

However, these assertions are frequently challenged as exaggerations or falsehoods. Trump’s polarizing nature means his self-assessment often clashes starkly with external perceptions, especially in public opinion.

Since beginning his second term, Trump has acted swiftly, consolidating support among loyalists while heightening critics’ concerns. He frames himself as a global stabilizer who prevents conflicts.

Yet observers find his recent tone increasingly aggressive, citing rhetoric on Venezuela and renewed interest in annexing Greenland. This fuels debate over his foreign and domestic policy direction.

Immigration remains a contentious issue, and Trump’s association with unresolved controversies like the Epstein files further complicates his standing with the public.

Current polling reflects this divide. An AP-NORC survey shows only 40% of Americans approve of his job performance, a number stable since early 2025. Majorities disapprove of his handling of the economy, immigration, foreign policy, and trade.

Thus, despite Trump’s claims of triumph, his second term has not produced a surge in public support. A majority remains unconvinced, sustaining a defining gap between his narrative and the public’s critical assessment.
