Megan, a high school choir director from California, faced a bonus puzzle under the “Living Thing” category. The incomplete phrase “_ N’R _ _ ” eventually revealed “P_N’ RC _ D” after Megan’s letter choices.
In the final seconds, Megan guessed something like “Pink Orchid.” When the correct answer, “Pink Orchid,” was revealed, Megan expressed frustration. Host Pat Sajak, sensing her disappointment, pulled out the prize card, showing a potential $40,000 prize, far exceeding the $14,007 she received.
Viewers vented their frustration online. One complained, “The woman got screwed on the #WheelOfFortune bonus puzzle tonight; she totally said ‘PINK ORCHID’ right at the start.” Another added, “I lip read and use subtitles because I am deaf in one ear. She said ‘Pink Orchid.’ Without a doubt!”
