While on the Beach with My Husband, a Woman Ran Up, Knelt, and Said His Name
Just as John and I enjoyed our anniversary on the beach, a woman in a swimsuit ran up, knelt before him, and said his name. My heart stopped.
“JOHN… No, please don’t leave me… John!” I shrieked, waking from a nightmare. This trip to the Dominican Republic was meant to help us reconnect. “Ready for our adventure?” John asked. “With you? Always,” I replied.
We arrived at a beautiful beachfront resort and spent our days lounging on the beach. On the third evening, I prepared to tell John I was pregnant.
As we walked along the beach, a woman appeared, dropping to her knees in front of John. “John! Will you marry me?” I froze. John laughed and hugged her. “What is going on?” I asked. John explained she was Julia, a college friend playing a prank.
Relieved, I asked, “You’re not leaving me, right?” John hugged me. “Never, Rosa. I’m so sorry.” I handed him a gift box with a tiny locket shaped like a baby shoe. “We’re going to have a baby,” I whispered.
John’s eyes filled with tears. “You’ve just made me the happiest man on Earth.” As the sun set, I realized this emotional day had brought us closer together. I couldn’t wait for our future as a family.
