I Came Back from Vacation to Find a Stranger Living in My House — He Refused to Leave, So I Took Matters into My Own Hands

Lisa, a 38-year-old single mother, and her two children, Ethan and Chloe, returned from a dream vacation in Hawaii to find an unwelcome guest in their home. Lisa had asked her sister, Emily, to let her friend Mark stay for one night while they were away. However, Mark had overstayed and refused to leave.

Upon arrival, Lisa discovered Mark lounging in her bedroom. “What are you doing here?” she demanded. Mark replied lazily, “I need another week. Emily said it’d be okay.” Despite Lisa’s insistence that he leave immediately, Mark stayed put.
Lisa called the police, hoping for help. An officer informed her, “This is a civil matter. You’ll need to go through the eviction process.” Frustrated, Lisa realized Mark could legally stay until she followed proper procedures.
Desperate, Lisa and Emily devised a plan to remove Mark. They waited until Mark left for dinner, then quickly packed his belongings and placed them outside. They locked all the doors and waited. When Mark returned and found himself locked out, he called the police. “Open the door! You can’t do this!” he shouted.
When the new officers arrived, they found Mark had an outstanding warrant. “Sir, you have an outstanding warrant for a shoplifting charge,” the officer said as they arrested him.

With Mark gone, Lisa felt a huge relief. “We did it,” she told Emily, and the family finally enjoyed a peaceful night at home.
