My Father Skipped My Graduation to Take His Stepson to the Zoo – I Taught Him a Good Lesson
Michael’s father, Henry, skips his graduation to take his stepson, Tommy, to the zoo. Hurt by this, Michael plans a dinner with the intention to confront his father and make him realize the consequences of his actions.
On graduation day, Henry promises to attend, but hours before, he calls and says, “Tommy needs me today.” Michael is devastated, watching other families celebrate. He later invites Henry, his stepmother Sandra, and Tommy to dinner, where he delivers a speech about his father’s absence. Michael says, “At the science fair… I searched the crowd for my father. But where he should have stood, there was only an empty space.”
Henry admits, “I’ve missed a lifetime with my son.” Sandra suggests they need time together. Michael’s speech makes his father feel guilty. A week later, Henry plans a father-son trip to reconnect. Michael is hopeful that this will change their relationship.
