If You Spot These Red Dots On Your Skin
Like many, I check my body regularly for any lumps, bruises, or unusual changes, ready to consult a doctor if anything concerning arises. So, you can imagine my alarm when I found red spots on my shoulder one morning. After a quick online search, I learned there are multiple reasons for red dots on the skin, most of which are benign.
These include petechiae (small broken capillaries), cherry angiomas (harmless red bumps), and heat rash. Sometimes, red spots may result from an allergic reaction, folliculitis (inflamed hair follicles), or even cellulitis, a bacterial skin infection. Though usually harmless, red spots can sometimes signal more serious conditions like vasculitis or hemangiomas. If the spots are painful, spreading, or come with other symptoms like fever or fatigue, it’s wise to seek medical advice.
