Trump gives brutal
During a White House meeting with new Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, US President Donald Trump revisited his proposal to make Canada the 51st state. Trump previously suggested this as a way to bypass trade tariffs, but Canada has consistently rejected the idea, with both Carney and former PM Justin Trudeau stating the country is “not for sale.” Carney likened Canada to historic landmarks like Buckingham Palace, asserting that some things are simply priceless. Trump, however, playfully countered with a Justin Bieber quote, saying, “Never say never,” and pointed to past impossibilities that became reality.
The May 6 meeting saw Trump compliment Carney as “very talented,” while Carney acknowledged Trump as a “transformational president,” despite ongoing trade disputes. A body language analyst noted Carney’s mix of confidence and unease, particularly when Trump initiated an elbow touch. While Trump remained hopeful about his proposal, Carney stood firm, declaring Canadians as “masters in our own home” and unwilling to compromise their sovereignty for foreign interests.
