‘Life-saving’ iPhone trick now available to millions of users and it takes just seconds to upgrade
Apple’s **iOS 18.5 update** has expanded its **satellite texting** feature to **iPhone 13** models, previously limited to newer devices. This “life-saving” function lets users send messages **without cellular signal** by connecting to satellites—crucial for emergencies in remote areas. However, the feature has **limitations**: it’s only available with **T-Mobile in the U.S.** and excludes emergency services access for iPhone 13 users.
To activate it, update to **iOS 18.5**, enable **iMessage**, and ensure a clear view of the sky. A demo in **Settings > Apps** lets users test connectivity. While not as robust as on **iPhone 14 and later**, this update still offers older device users a valuable safety net when off-grid.
