Experts say Trump’s ‘Golden Dome’ covering entire US

President Trump’s proposed “Golden Dome” missile defense system—an expansion of Reagan’s Star Wars program—faces mounting skepticism from experts. While Trump boasts near-100% effectiveness, nuclear arms specialist Jeffrey Lewis highlights critical flaws: the U.S.’s vast size makes Israel’s Iron Dome model impractical, and space-based interceptors would be vulnerable to anti-satellite attacks. He warns Russia could easily disable the system with high-altitude nuclear detonations.

The project’s staggering costs raise further concerns. With satellite replacements alone potentially costing $40 billion annually—plus the risk of triggering a dangerous space arms race—experts argue the Golden Dome may collapse under its own financial and technical weight. Lewis concludes it’s more likely to escalate global tensions than provide real security, calling it a “gigantic waste of money” that could leave America less safe.
