Trump claims China has ‘violated’ trade agreement with US in scathing message with ominous warning

President Donald Trump has accused China of violating the 90-day trade truce that was put in place between the two countries. The temporary pause in tariffs had been negotiated by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent after talks with Chinese officials in Geneva. However, Bessent has admitted that discussions have now stalled due to the complexity and magnitude of the trade talks. The trade deal, which involved both Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, had initially halted the back-and-forth of steep tariffs on goods between the nations.

Trump took to Truth Social on May 30 to criticize China’s communist administration, saying they had totally disregarded the agreement. He explained that he had struck a fast deal to prevent China’s economic collapse after his tariffs caused factory closures and unrest. Although things temporarily stabilized, he claims China has now broken the truce. Trump emphasized that the trade war, which he reignited with major tariffs, has left China and the US in an uncertain situation regarding future levies on imports.
