High schooler takes off his helmet and grabs a guitar to sing national anthem
When Jackson Dean Nicholson realized nobody else was willing to sing the national anthem, he faced a tough choice. Without hesitation, he removed his helmet, approached the microphone, and delivered something truly magical.
Americans hold deep respect for their national anthem, a symbol of their patriotism alongside the flag and their veterans. Its lyrics originated from a poem written in 1814 by Francis Scott Key, inspired by the defense of Fort McHenry during the Battle of Baltimore.
Performed before significant events like sports matches, the anthem holds special significance. As players from Arundel High School, Maryland, prepared for a match, Jackson, a senior defensive end, surprised everyone with what many consider one of the most moving renditions of the anthem ever.
