He paid only $2 at a flea market for an old photograph

Randy Guijarro and his wife Linda found a rare tintype photo of Billy the Kid playing croquet in a California thrift shop in 2010, purchasing it for just $2. Recently authenticated, this 1878 photo, once undervalued, has now sold for millions, with an estimated worth of $5 million. Guijarro, a telecommunications expert, meticulously identified Billy the Kid in the image, making it the second authenticated photo of the legendary outlaw. Their remarkable find was featured in a National Geographic special hosted by Kevin Costner, detailing their five-year journey. Despite initial skepticism, the couple persevered with honesty and dedication. Now, with their unexpected windfall, they plan to fund new adventures, including future treasure hunts, and perhaps even purchase a new car. The photo is insured for $5 million by Kagin’s Inc., who are seeking a private buyer. Guijarro emphasizes their desire to share their discoveries and continue the excitement of exploration.
