Trump sends cryptic 4-word warning after Zohran Mamdani’s NYC mayoral win
In a historic outcome, Zohran Mamdani has been elected as the new mayor of New York City. The 34-year-old secured a landslide victory, becoming the city’s first Muslim mayor and first mayor of South Asian heritage.
The election saw the highest voter turnout in over 50 years. Mamdani garnered more than 1.03 million votes, surpassing the combined total of all his opponents, including former governor Andrew Cuomo.
Tensions with former President Donald Trump defined the pre-election period. Trump had labeled Mamdani a “communist” and threatened to cut federal funding to the city if he won.
In his victory speech, Mamdani directly challenged Trump. He declared New York a city of immigrants and stated it would show a nation “betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him.”
He concluded his speech with a pointed, four-word message for the former president: “turn the volume up.”
Trump responded on Truth Social with an ominous post: “…AND SO IT BEGINS!” This cryptic message has sparked widespread speculation about his next moves.
Given his previous threats, analysts suggest Trump could move to slash federal funding to New York City. His post signals that a major political confrontation between the new mayor and the former president is now underway.
