Prince Harry Reveals Kate Middleton’s Texts To Meghan Markle During Infamous Argument
In his memoir, Prince Harry revealed a private text exchange between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton just days before his 2018 wedding. The conflict began when Kate texted Meghan to say that Princess Charlotte’s flower girl dress was too big, making her cry.
Meghan responded by reassuring Kate that a tailor was on standby at Kensington Palace to make quick alterations. She politely asked Kate to bring Charlotte for a fitting, noting that the other mothers had already done so.
The situation escalated when Kate insisted the dresses needed to be completely remade instead of simply altered. Meghan, who was already under significant stress due to drama with her own father, expressed how overwhelmed she felt.
Despite this, Kate remained firm, pointing out that the wedding was only four days away. Meghan tried once more to resolve the issue, encouraging Kate to simply visit the waiting tailor.
Kate eventually replied with a short “Fine,” but the tense exchange left Meghan in tears. Harry recalls returning home to find her sobbing on the floor.
Months later, tabloids reported the incident, but claimed Meghan had made Kate cry—completely reversing the story. Harry states that Kate privately admitted she had upset Meghan, yet no effort was made to correct the public record.
Reflecting on the event, Meghan later told Oprah she had forgiven Kate. However, the pain of being falsely blamed and the betrayal of how the rumor started within the family remained a deeply hurtful experience.
