Trump seemingly invents new name for Republican party and you’d never guess what it is
Former President Donald Trump has teased a potential 2028 presidential run. He shared an AI-generated image on Truth Social featuring a sign that read, “TRUMP 2028, YES!”
This suggestion is complicated by the 22nd Amendment. The constitutional rule generally prohibits a president from being elected more than twice.
Trump has previously expressed uncertainty about his eligibility. He has stated that, to his knowledge, he is “not allowed to run,” while also noting the strong requests for him to do so.
In the same social media post, he also proposed a new nickname for his supporters: “TRUMPLICANS.” This follows other recent attempts to coin a term for his faction of the Republican party.
Despite the 2028 speculation, Trump has often publicly conceded that a third term is unlikely. He has said his focus is on “four great years” before turning the presidency over to another Republican.
When considering a successor, Trump has indicated Vice President JD Vance would be the probable favorite. He mentioned this during a CNBC interview, highlighting Vance’s current position.
While Trump himself has downplayed a third-term bid, some supporters, like Representative Andy Ogles, have suggested changing the law to allow it.
