Awkward truth behind Trump Mobile’s $500 phones as people brand it a ‘scam’
Trump Mobile, a phone company launched by The Trump Organization, is facing criticism and allegations of being a scam. Critics have accused the venture of selling refurbished older phones at a significant markup instead of its promised new device.
The company had promoted a golden ‘T1’ smartphone made for “real Americans,” claiming it would be manufactured in the United States. However, experts noted the proposed manufacturing facilities do not exist, and the promised August release has not happened.
Currently, the company is allegedly offering refurbished Apple or Samsung models from previous years. Reports indicate one phone was listed for $225 more than its price on Amazon, despite earlier “Made in America” promises.
The company also offers a Trump-branded SIM-only plan. One critic highlighted that NBC News paid a $100 deposit for a $499 Trump phone but has not received the device after months of delays.
NBC News reportedly made multiple calls seeking updates after receiving no proactive communication. An initial delivery date of November 13 was postponed to early December.
As of December 6, the phone has still not been delivered. The company has also removed earlier claims about U.S. manufacturing from its promotions.
UNILAD has contacted Trump Mobile for comment regarding these allegations and delays. The situation has led to growing skepticism about the venture’s legitimacy.
