Marjorie Taylor Greene details ‘furious’ phone call with Trump lashing out over Epstein files

Georgia Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene has announced her plan to resign from Congress in January 2026. This decision followed her vote to release documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Greene revealed that former President Donald Trump had a “furious” reaction to her support for the document release. She detailed his response in an interview with *60 Minutes*, stating he was “extremely angry” at her.

In a social media statement, Greene explained her resignation, writing that standing up for victims should not result in being called a traitor and threatened by a president she supported. She compared the situation to refusing to be a “battered wife.”

A bill mandating the release of Epstein-related documents passed Congress and was signed by President Trump. However, Greene indicated Trump had previously tried to prevent its passage.

Greene told *60 Minutes* she believes the victims “deserve” full transparency. When asked what Trump specifically said, she stated he warned the release “was going to hurt people.”

A White House spokesperson countered that the Trump administration has championed transparency, releasing documents and calling for further investigations into Epstein’s associates.

Greene concluded that she will not endure a primary challenge fueled by the president, prioritizing her family and district over a political fight. Her resignation marks a significant fracture with her former ally.
