Terrifying moment heroic civilian disarmed alleged shooter in Bondi Beach terror attack

Following the terror attack at Sydney’s Bondi Beach, a bystander has been hailed a hero for disarming one of the shooters. The incident occurred during a Hanukkah celebration, leaving twelve people dead.

Viral footage shows the civilian, identified as 43-year-old father Ahmed Al Ahmed, taking action. He is seen crouching behind a car as a gunman fires with his back turned.

Ahmed then creeps behind the suspect and grapples him to the ground. A tense struggle ensues as he wrestles the firearm away from the attacker.

After securing the weapon, Ahmed points it at the retreating gunman before carefully setting it down. He then takes cover as gunshots continue from a second shooter on a nearby bridge.

Another bystander is seen running into the frame and throwing an object at the disarmed suspect. This second individual was apparently injured while later reaching for the discarded weapon.

Ahmed, who owns a fruit shop, sustained gunshot wounds to his arm and shoulder. His cousin stated he has no prior experience with firearms.

Australian Premier Chris Minns praised Ahmed as a “genuine hero,” crediting him with saving many lives. The attack has been condemned as an act of antisemitic terrorism by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
