Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey Just FOLDED to President Donald Trump

On January 24, 2026, U.S. Border Patrol agents shot and killed 37-year-old ICU nurse Alex Pretti during an immigration operation in Minneapolis. The incident occurred amid protests against the federal initiative known as Operation Metro Surge.

Federal officials stated the shooting was defensive, claiming Pretti resisted and approached agents with a weapon. While video confirms Pretti was armed, it also shows him holding a phone moments before, fueling a dispute over whether the use of force was justified.

This was the second fatal shooting by federal immigration agents in Minneapolis that month, following the death of Renée Good on January 7. The consecutive incidents have provoked outrage and heightened scrutiny of enforcement tactics.

Large protests demanding transparency and accountability have occurred in Minneapolis and nationally. Members of Congress from both parties have called for independent investigations into Pretti’s death.

The unrest has extended beyond Minnesota. In Santa Ana, California, 21-year-old protester Kaden Rummler was permanently blinded in his left eye after being struck by a projectile fired by a federal officer during a demonstration.

These events have intensified a national debate over federal law-enforcement methods. Central issues include the use of force during enforcement actions and interactions with civilians and protesters.

Families, community advocates, and officials continue to demand independent reviews and greater transparency. The incidents are under growing legal and political scrutiny as calls for policy reform increase.
