The Boy Scouts Rebranding as Scouting America: An Inclusive Future

Scouting America: Embracing Inclusivity for the Future

Reflecting on our youth, many recall fond memories in the scouts. Traditionally divided into Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, the organization is now evolving to adapt to changing times.

After over a century as The Boy Scouts of America, the organization is rebranding as Scouting America. This significant change aims to reflect their inclusive approach. “We want all youth in America to feel genuinely welcome in our programs for the next 100 years,” said President and CEO Roger Krone.
Recent years have seen the Boy Scouts opening their doors to both boys and girls, as well as gay youths. Financial challenges, sexual abuse allegations, and declining membership have further prompted this rebranding effort. The organization hopes that the new identity will attract a new generation of scouts while upholding core values.

The rebranding will be officially launched on February 8, 2025, marking their 115th anniversary. Despite facing criticism, including from Senator Ted Cruz, the organization remains committed to making scouting an enriching experience for all. The inclusion of girls has already had a positive impact, with over 6,000 girls becoming Eagle Scouts since 2013.
