Danny Trejo Reacts to Fourth of July Parade Brawl After Water Balloon Incident
Danny Trejo addressed a chaotic brawl at a Fourth of July parade in Los Angeles after being hit by a water balloon. Riding in a convertible with his friend Mario Castillo, Trejo said he panicked when he heard someone yell that the balloon contained “acid.” He confronted the thrower, leading to a fight with a man in a black sleeveless shirt. “I don’t think I would’ve gotten out of the car if someone hadn’t yelled ‘it’s acid.’ That’s when I panicked,” Trejo told TMZ.
Trejo and Castillo believed they were targeted because they are Mexican. “It was targeted, because there was no one else being hit by balloons in front of us or behind us,” Castillo said. The confrontation escalated when a second balloon hit Trejo’s head. “There were a lot of people between him and the people who threw the water balloon,” a witness noted.
Some attendees blamed Trejo for escalating the situation. James Spishak, a local resident, said, “[Trejo] pushed women out of the way to get to those guys. It could’ve gotten really ugly.” Despite the brawl, Trejo laughed off the incident, saying, “They couldn’t hurt me, it was sad.”
The fight ended with Trejo’s friend Castillo suffering injuries. “It took several paradegoers to separate the brawl,” the report concluded.
