Missing 9-Year-Old Girl Featured On ‘Unsolved Mysteries’ Has Been Found

Heather Unbehaun, accused of abducting her daughter Kayla Unbehaun six years ago, has surrendered in Illinois, ending a nationwide search. Kayla, found safe in North Carolina, was reunited with her father, Ryan Iserka, following a viewer’s recognition from Netflix’s “Unsolved Mysteries.”

Kayla disappeared on July 4, 2017, after a parade in South Elgin, Illinois. Heather, despite Ryan having full custody, informed him they were going camping and didn’t return.

Heather’s arrest occurred in North Carolina, where she was located, based on a fugitive warrant from Illinois for kidnapping and child abduction charges. Despite a high bail initially, she was later released after posting bond.

The case underscores the importance of public vigilance in resolving missing person cases. Ryan expressed gratitude to supporters and law enforcement for Kayla’s safe return.

Legal proceedings await Heather as the case concludes, marking a significant milestone for Kayla’s family after years of uncertainty. The resolution highlights the collaborative efforts of law enforcement and the public in ensuring the safety and well-being of missing individuals.
