After battling Parkinson’s for so many years, the beloved star passed away

Richard Lewis, the comedian and actor famous for his role on HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, died at 76 from a heart attack. His publicist confirmed the news, sparking tributes from fans and co-stars, including Larry David and Bette Midler.

Lewis gained fame in the 1980s through stand-up and appearances on late-night talk shows. On Curb Your Enthusiasm, he portrayed a fictionalized version of himself, a role he continued in the show’s 12th season.

In April 2023, Lewis revealed his battle with Parkinson’s disease, which led him to retire from stand-up but continue focusing on acting and writing. Larry David, in a heartfelt tribute, said, “He’s been like a brother to me my whole life.”

Richard Lewis is survived by his wife, Joyce Lapinsky, whom he married in 2005.
