Jamie Farr, a.k.a the cross-dressing Corporal Maxwell Q. Klinger in “M*A*S*H,” and his wife, Joy, are marking an incredible 60 years of marriage!
Hollywood actor Jamie Farr’s love story with wife Jo Ann Richards began almost 60 years ago without a ring. Farr, struggling financially at the time, couldn’t afford one when he proposed, but their love endured.
Starting his career with meager gigs, Farr faced challenges securing acting roles. Desperate for work, he even went to great lengths to get noticed, which eventually led to a part in “The Dick Van Dyke Show.”
Despite setbacks, Farr’s persistence paid off when he landed a role in “The Greatest Story Ever Told.” Miraculously, after praying to St. Jude for the opportunity, he got the call he’d been waiting for.
With newfound success, Farr fulfilled his promise to Jo Ann. Thirteen years after their wedding, he surprised her with a 1.5-carat emerald ring, symbolizing their enduring love through years of hardship and perseverance.
