Prince William and Kate Middleton defy royal protocol with ‘dangerous’ move during secret trip

Prince William and Kate Middleton chose to break royal protocol during their 2016 tour of India by visiting a New Delhi children’s shelter without security. The Salaam Baalak Trust, which supports homeless and vulnerable youth, initially warned against the visit due to safety concerns, but the couple insisted on meeting the children privately. Trust co-founder Sanjay Roy praised their respectful approach, contrasting it with past VIP visits that turned into “a circus.”

The royal pair’s decision reflected their commitment to meaningful engagements. During the same tour, they visited the Taj Mahal, played cricket with children, and explored Bhutan’s Tiger’s Nest monastery. Months later, they embarked on their first family tour with Prince George and Princess Charlotte to Canada. Their willingness to forgo security for sensitive visits highlights their hands-on approach to royal duties.
