Former President Donald Trump has received a significant endorsement from Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa as the Republican Party begins to rally around him again. Grassley, the longest-serving senator, announced his support, stating, “We need President Trump back in the White House to get our country back on track and correct President Biden’s failures.” He criticized Biden’s policies, saying, “High costs at the grocery store are hurting Iowa families, and Biden’s open border policies are jeopardizing the safety of America’s families.” Grassley emphasized his commitment, adding, “Every time I get a chance to speak up for Trump at my Iowa meetings and in the press, I take it.”

Grassley’s Endorsement History

Grassley, reelected to his eighth term in 2022 with Trump’s endorsement, had previously refrained from endorsing any candidate before the Iowa caucus, allowing multiple candidates to engage with Iowa voters. He stated, “I do not plan on endorsing, and I believe that Joni Ernst has the same view I have. And the reason we haven’t endorsed anybody is because when there were 13 candidates, we wanted everybody to come to Iowa and keep Iowa first in the nation.”

Charlie Kirk’s Electoral Strategy

Meanwhile, Charlie Kirk of Turning Point USA is focusing on changing Nebraska’s electoral vote system. In an interview with Steve Bannon’s ‘War Room’ podcast, Kirk discussed his plan to persuade Nebraska’s GOP governor to switch from a mixed electoral vote system to a winner-take-all system. Kirk explained, “The current electoral map shows that it is possible for Biden to take the electoral votes from Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin. Our plan is to not have that be the case.” He argued that changing Nebraska’s system would prevent Biden from reaching 270 electoral votes, potentially resulting in a 269 tie, which would then be decided by the House of Representatives, favoring Trump. “This is a clear action item,” Kirk emphasized.
