I Decided to Surprise My Husband at Work Only to Discover He Was on Vacation
Last Tuesday, I decided to surprise Ben at work with his favorite lasagna. To my shock, the receptionist informed me, “Ben’s been on vacation for the past two weeks.” Suspicious, I followed him the next day to my sister Kate’s house and saw them together through a window, which made me think they were having an affair.
I called my lawyer Carla, who advised, “Gather some concrete evidence.” After seeing Ben and Kate huddled over lunch and papers, I took photos and called my brother-in-law James, who urged, “Julia, you need to come over here. Now.”
Confronting them, I shouted, “You lying, cheating traitors!” Ben, looking stunned, explained, “I took a vacation to work on a surprise for you. You always talked about owning a coffee shop, right?” Kate then showed me the business plan and legal papers for the shop they were planning for me.
Feeling relieved, I realized my mistake. Ben hugged me, saying, “I love you. I would never betray you.” The next day, we signed the final papers, and the coffee shop was ours.
I learned the importance of trust and communication. Misunderstandings can happen, but they can also lead to beautiful surprises.
