Heartbreaking for George Strait as he mourns the loss of someone very special

Country music legend George Strait recently faced the heartbreaking loss of two close members of his musical family on the same day. Strait announced the passing of his longtime manager, Eugene Ervine “Erv” Woolsey, and his bandmate, Gene Elders, on his Facebook page. Woolsey, who had managed Strait since the early 1980s, died at 80 due to complications from surgery. Strait expressed his sorrow, saying, “Won’t ever be the same without him.”

On the same day, Strait also mourned the loss of Gene Elders, a key member of his Ace in the Hole band since 1984. Strait described Elders as a beloved “brother” in music, adding, “Me and the band won’t ever be the same without our brother Gene.”
