Superstitious Dad Nervous After Daughter Says Goodbye To Him
Despite living in modern times, a part of us remains connected to our ancestors’ superstitious beliefs, especially concerning death. Even rational people can find themselves believing in the fantastic. This joke illustrates such a scenario involving a father and his young daughter.
A father put his 3-year-old daughter to bed, told her a story, and listened to her prayers, which ended with, “God bless Mommy, God bless Daddy, God bless Grandma, and goodbye Grandpa.” The father asked, “Why did you say goodbye Grandpa?” She replied, “I don’t know daddy, it just seemed like the thing to do.” The next day, Grandpa died. The father thought it was a strange coincidence.
Months later, during prayers, she said, “God bless Mommy, God bless Daddy, and goodbye Grandma.” The next day, Grandma died. The father thought, “Holy crap, this kid is in contact with the other side.”
Weeks later, she prayed, “God bless Mommy and goodbye Daddy.” The father went into shock, stayed at his office all day, and nervously waited for midnight. When he got home, his wife said, “You think you had a bad day? The mailman dropped dead on our porch!”
