Hurricane Helene is expected to batter Florida as it intensifies into a Category 4 storm by Thursday, September 26. According to the National Hurricane Center, Helene could cause severe destruction with storm surges potentially reaching 20 feet along parts of the Florida Big Bend coastline, particularly impacting areas like Miami. Winds are forecasted to escalate to 130 mph by the afternoon.

Hurricane expert Michael Lowry predicts Helene could become one of the largest storms to hit the Gulf of Mexico in the past century, comparable to hurricanes like Irma (2017) and Ivan (2004). Residents are urged to complete preparations to protect life and property.
